This year, because of your support, the JDMGS was privileged to award $17,500 in student scholarships to students who exemplified Joe’s positive attitude, ‘do good always’ character, work ethic (on and off the golf course), and Christian foundation. This was an especially special year as it would have been Joe’s senior year at North Forsyth High School. The 2018 JDMGS winners include: Jacob Hobbs, from West Forsyth High School, who will be attending the University of North Georgia; Thacher Neal, from Camden County High School, who will be attending & playing golf at Alabama State University; Kate Owens, from Lambert High School, who will be attending & playing golf at James Madison University; Griffin Orzech, from North Forsyth High School, who will be attending Kennesaw State University; Jackson Boone, also from North Forsyth High School, who will be attending the University of North Georgia; Cooper Roland, from Habersham High School, who will be attending & playing golf at Truett-McConnell University. In addition to the above scholarships, this year, we had a special donation with a specific request from the donor for an additional scholarship for Joe’s senior year. This one-time only scholarship was based strictly on character (no golf requirement) and awarded to two students whose amazing characters’ most stood out to the board as emulating the sweet Joe we all love: Noah Gurr (Forsyth Central High School) and Brayden Smith (North Forsyth High School). Both students will be attending The University of Georgia in the fall. We are excited to have awarded each of these amazing students with a well-deserved gift to help further their education. Thanks to your support, we look forward to seeing where their efforts take them in the future!
